10 Snacks To Eat While At Work

Trying to eat healthier is a big challenge today. Why? Because of all the fast-food available around you.

If you usually cook at home, you'll find that main meals are easier to keep healthier. But when that afternoon munchies hit, I would often find my self gravitating towards my office's vending machine and all the sugary snacks it holds.
To avoid these, I've been trying to discover healthy snacks what can I easily bring with me to work. I want to share with you my top 10 snacks... the ones that I really enjoy eating. I also try not to eat more than 200kcal in snacks during the day!

Turkey Ham. A great snack option! It's low in fat and low in calories but you should always go for the ones without nitrates. Just roll up a couple of slices and eat them with some crackers.

Boiled eggs. One egg contains around 70 kcal and around 6g of protein, which means that it will make you feel pretty full for a while.

Sliced (light) cheese. Like the turkey ham, it's healthy, light ande each slice has on average 80kcal! But be careful with how many slices you have! Two are probably more than enough.

Sweet potato chips. Air fried sweet potato chips are the perfect snack! Full of nutrients and high in fiber!

Avocado. Avocado is a great source of fiber, and will make you fill full for a long time! Sprinkle some paprika on top for some extra flavor.

Celery or carrot sticks and Humus. Hummus is dip made of chickpeas and olive oil and tahini, very light and very fulfilling. It's great to dip crunchy vegetables such as carrots or celery or even cucumbers.

Almonds. 12 almonds have around 180 kcal, making it an awesome snack. Just bring it already portioned to work, or I'll bet you will eat the whole pack in one afternoon.

Yogurt. Yogurts can be high in protein, calcium, vitamins, and live culture, or probiotics, which can enhance the gut microbiota. These can offer protection for bones and teeth and help prevent digestive problems.

Queso fresco. Simple cheese, made only from drained curdled milk. Packed with protein and calcium is a simple snack since it is low in calories and fat.

Protein bars. Store bought protein bars. I prefere the ones with chocolate because it tricks my brain into thinking that I am eating a candy bar. But they have less sugar, and they actually make you feel full. My faves are from Prozis -- Protein Snack in the Belgian Chocolate flavor. Not very expensive, and really good.

-- I also take CLA as a supplement,but I'll talk about it later --

Do you bring your own snack to work or do you feed of the vending machine?

REVIEW | LIERAC Body-Slim Minceur Globale

In case you haven't noticed, I've been dragging my lazy ass to the gym whenever I can.
I've wrote about this before. I don't think I'm fat, I just want to be healthier. I spend all day sitting down and I feel like that takes a tole on my body...
I'm drinking more water, trying to eat better, and exercising of course. And even tho I'm seeing results -- I can see that my abs are more defined I still felt like some extra help is welcome.
As you know, I've started to take Cellulase Pears, and in addition to that I started using a sculpting cream.

I asked around which one I should get, and of course my favorite pharmacist -- Mr. O Pinguim Sem Asas -- recommended me this one - LIERAC's Body-Slim Minceur Globale

I've been told that this is a starting out product -- which means that it is the ideal product if you want to start battling cellulite and you want to actually see some results.
I've been using it for a while now -- my tube is actually almost over --  and yes, I can definitely tell a difference!

It's texture is really nice -- it's a very lightweight pink lotion. Really easy to apply. It feels very silky, not too tick or creamy. It dries down really fast -- and it doesn't leave any stickiness or wet feeling.
And the smell -- I love the smell! It has a slightly medicinal smell, not too intense, with a hint of raspberry. And after you apply it to your body it almost changes to a very light fresh fruity scent. I like it!

But to make the most out of this product, you have to be careful on how you apply it and what you do with it. You can't just lightly rub it in and hope for the best, because that won't work. To really make it work, you'll have to:

- Apply the product at the end of the day, after the shower --  I usually do it after the gym.
- Exfoliate your skin at least once a week to help improve the penetration of the product
- Massaging the product in to insure good penetration, stimulation of circulation and to help release the fat cells. Oh, and when I say massage, I mean self-inflicted torture with my knuckles on my tights. And yes, I've been told that this is supposed to hurt. This type of product can't just be smeared on you skin! You have to work it in.
- Drink a lot of water to help with the draining
- Exercise. As much as possible.

Honestly, I am always a bit skeptical about this sort of products and I can't really say if it is this product, the Cellulase Pearls, the exercise or just the combination of it all. But yes, I'm seeing good results! I have less dimples on my butt and that curve that goes from the begging of the leg to the butt is much smoother and defined. But yes, less cellulite that's for sure.

My Life | Turning around

Last week I went to my firs ever nutrition consultation. I know that my eating habits are not the best... but I decided that it was time to go and find out exactly how bad it was...

About a year ago, I was in a really bad, toxic, weird, relationship. And I was always so sad and depressed that I couldn't eat and when I could I wasn't able to keep food down. Last November I was weighting 48 kg (and I'm 1.60m). I was definitely too thin. I had zero energy, I was always tired.
But as soon as I turned around, and I started to feel better about my self, I regained my appetite and my weight went up.

Now I'm 56kg and I'm comfortable with this weight. I have curves, I feel sexy and really good about my self. However, I feel like I lost a lot of muscle during my depression phase, and I have been feeling super flubbery. So a few months ago I decided to join a gym. It took me a while to add the gym to my routine. I think that for the first two months I went twice. But than I set my mind and I decided that I had to start going and now I'm loving going to the gym. I've been going at least twice a week -- ON WEEKENDS EVEN!

The nutritionist was super sweet and nice with me. She asked me why I decided to go to the appointment, and what was my overall goal. She made me go on the scale and took some measurements like my weight, % of fat, basal metabolism, etc. And she started to create my meal plan. I told her that I’m busy and that I don’t have time for a lot of meal prep and that usually I only eat the 3 main meals of the day. She asked me to describe what I normally eat in a day and created my meal plan around it. It’s a simple meal plan that I’m sure I’ll be able to follow.

My goal is to go from 56 kg to 54 kg and to lower my percentage of body fat from 28% to somewhere under 25%, in the next two months. I have no idea if this is going to be difficult or easy because it’s the first time I’m doing something like this. But I’ll do my best! Wish me luck!

Healty Habits | Sparkly Water

I've talked about this here on the blog before --  I have a problem when it comes to drinking water. I don't have the habit of drinking water during the day. I've tried so many different things to fix this: having a water bottle with me all the time, using an alarm to remind me, drinking tea, and even some pinterest hacks. But the only think that was really working for me was drinking sparkly water.
When I was living in Paris, I would buy every day a 1L of Badoit Sparkly Water.

Some times I would buy the flavorless kind or the one with flavors. The mint one was supper good and it was my favorite flavor. But there was also raspberry, lemon, lime and passion fruit! They are all so tasty! It tastes almost like soda, but it was just flavored water. I would buy one bottle before going to work and my goal was to drink it all before leaving at the end of the day. And it was working perfectly! Badoit, although is a very fancy brand of water, is supper cheap --  the flavorless kind costs maybe 0,85€ and the flavored kind 1€. (It's expensive when compared to regular water, I know, but it's not that bad. It's cheaper than an expresso, there!). But since I moved to Lisbon, well let's say I have a problem with this method. We don't have Badoit here. We have Pedras Salgadas or Frize. And they only sell 1L bottles for the flavorless kinds and it costs 1.40€! Am I the only one that thinks this is extremely over priced?! I have been buying the Pedras Salgadas Flavorless 1L bottle because I need to drink water and apparently this is the only type  of water my brain craves. But hey, if I need to sepnd 1.40€ everyday to keep me hydrated I will!

Review | Bio-Oil

No, I haven't had a baby nor am I pregnant which is what I know most people associate Bio-Oil with,
although I have heard that it is a complete wonder product for stretch marks, scars or weird skin pigmentation! I goggled a bit and I have seen really promising before and after pictures, in different blogs, so I decided to try it out!
So what have I been using Bio-Oil for? Plain and simple to reduce the appearance of acne scarring on my shoulders and back and some small stretch marks -- gross I know but sharing is caring <3
Bio-Oil as many will know is a dry oil which essentially means it applies like a slightly greasy liquid but as soon as you begin to massage in into the sky it quickly absorbs without any trace of residue which is simply brilliant for all those like myself who aren't the biggest fans of oil products. It is very smooth and it smells really great!
I apply it everyday after shower in my whole body and on my face just before moisturizing -- and just a bit goes a long way!
I have been using it for around 2 1/2 weeks and OMG my skin is so much softer! I was a bit skeptical to be honest -- but you know I am really impressed with this! I am not sure if it will fix giant scars but I am sure that it will probably help with the healing process! And for sure it will help prevent stretch marks!

This small bottle (60ml) costs around 10€ but I feel like it will last me for ever!

Do you use any type of product like this? Do you like this type of products? Let me know in the comments!

Healthy Habits | Drink more water

I have been trying to drink more water -- people say it is good for you!
I usually just forget to drink any water during the day -- and I can be like 2 days without drinking any water which is not good at all for me! They say you should drink 2 litters of water per day -- but I am not capable to do it effortless!
I have tried many different things like drinking tea during the day, or doing this thing were you mark your bottle to set some hourly goals of how much water you drink, but I always end up failing! It is a good tip and a good method if you actually remember to drink every hour or you will end up having to drink the amount corresponding to 3 or 4 hours!

So now I am trying sparkly water -- with flavor! This ones from BADOIT are so good!

When they are really cold they almost taste like soda because of the flavor and the bubbles -- except it doesn't have any sugar at all, but they taste super good, trust me! Each 1L bottle costs 1,20€ more or less (yes -- more expensive then regular water but YOLO lol) and I have been drinking 1 1/2 per day. They come in a big variety of flavors and only 4kcal per bottle!

Let's see how much time I can keep going with this! Any bets?
