I've talked about this before and I don't get tired of saying this: I don't like that whole movement of "It's OK to be fat". It's not OK to be fat. And when I say fat I mean people with obesity, not just a few pounds over. Obesity is a disease, and over eating can be an addiction. Obesity kills more poeple than tabaco does and you don't see people on the cover of magazines saying "It's OK to smoke" so why do you see them saying "it's OK to be fat". It's easier to accept that you are overweight than to do something about it. And for me, advertising this on the cover of magazines, showing that a unhealthy person is fabulous, just makes our society even lazier.

"I don't need to exercise or make healthier life choices. She doesn't and she is on the cover of a magazine. Why would I?"

  2. Perhaps it's not about anything being okay or not okay (because that is subjective). Rather, I believe this movement is about refusing to live in shame and fear and self loathing. Saying, "it's okay to be fat" is less about the physical and more about stating clearly, "I am worthy and lovable at any size." The reality is that unhealthy people can be fabulous. And so can healthy people. Our size and our health does not determine who we are. We are more than our size and our weight. I for one, am glad to see more diverse representation in the media.

    1. I am all about accepting our selves and be OK with our bodies. And of course unhealthy people can be fabulous. The thing is I don't think this should be praised. Everybody does what they feel right for them selves but they should "sell" something that is good in the long run.

  4. I really like women with curves, but mainly in their bust and behind. "Fat" is certainly repulsive and very dangerous to their own health.

Estava a referir-me a modelos bastante mais "gordinhas". Seja qual for esse o peso. Corpos saudáveis!

  12. I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. I'm what most would call obese and I'm perfectly happy the way I am. I see nothing wrong with magazines, tv and social media showing happy people who happen to be fat or obese because we should all be happy with who we are. You can't look at an overweight person and label them 'unhealthy' because you have no idea if they are or not.
